Day 1
So the big anticipated trip, where three corners of the globe of the Feast and Sampeys family were coming together to celebrate Aunty Jane’s wedding to Wayne.
Naomi’s parents flew into Sydney the night before ourselves, Louise and Adrian flew in. And literally as soon as we landed, the whistle stop tour began after a lot of hugs and kisses hello of course though :) :)
We headed straight to Bondi Beach for breakfast (at 7am!!!). It was already a hubbub of physical activity. Lots of runners, surfers, tai chi etc etc so we had a brisk stroll before divulging on some bacon sarnies :)
And then a quick dash to Manly Ocean Beach before picking up the keys to our Curl Curl apartment.
We spent the rest of the day chilling out, letting Mum and Dad recover from their long journey, and the rest of recover from our traumatic budget airline midnight journey!!! Especially as that evening, the hen and stag dos were taking place.
The girls headed off to a tavern for food and drinks just outside Frenchs Forest (Jane’s suburb) and the boys headed up north for a bite to eat at one of Wayne’s favourite pubs, before heading into Manly for a bit of night life. Now, for some reason there are no pictures from the stag do, and lots and lots from the hen do, so the only pictures following are of the ladies having fun!!!
The psychedelic disco afterwards (in Jane’s front room lol)
The blushing bride in full swing!!
Day 2
The next day, we went into Sydney for a spot of sight seeing a shopping! Mum needed to get lots of pictures of Aussie landmarks, and as it was a whistle stop tour, we fitted in as much as possible in one day.
Here goes, starting with the walk along the Harbour coast to Manly Ferry.
The ferry ride on the Manly Ferry to Circular Quay past the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge, many many photo opportunities!!!
Dad, Jane and Mum; Lou and Adrian
Chris, Mum, Dad and Naomi; Wayne and Jane
The approach to Circular Quay and the Governor’s posh house!
And then of course the group photo on the steps leading up to the Opera House.
We then went on a long walk through the botanical gardens, taking us out onto the east side of the city. Then we went through the city, via some shops, across to Darling Harbour for some late lunch. Pottered around for a bit here, then had to head back to Manly to pick up the hire car and back to the apartment for a chilled night before our early start the next day.
Day 3
We set off early today to get out to the Blue Mountains to the east of Sydney. Another thing on Mum’s tick list :)
After a long journey there through lots of traffic and roadworks, we made it to Katoomba (the main town connected to the mountains). We had a bite to eat then headed down to the viewpoints and for a little trek.
The Three Sisters (Mummy, Mary and Lou Lou)
View of the Three Sisters and the Blue Mountains valley
Naomi, Lou and Mum pretending to be the Three Sisters lol
Mum doing very well on the trek!
Just for Mary!!!
The skyway and the view of the waterfall as you cross the valley!
We did a bit more shopping in all the quirky and cool shops of Katoomba, bookshops ahoy for Adrian and lots of op shop finds for everyone else. And unfortunately another long drive back!
Day 4
This was a day of preparation. So apart from going for a nice walk along Curl Curl beach and enjoying the lovely weather, the rest of the day was spent preparing North Curl Curl beach club for tomorrow’s wedding!
Day 5 The Wedding
It was absolutely beautiful day, the sun shone all day and it was really hot. The beach club was decked out in so many lights, Jane reckoned you would be able to see it from space and there was enough food to feed one of Julius Caesar’s regiments!!!
It was great to have family and friends around for such a wonderful and momentous day. We will let the pictures do the talking!
The setting at Curl Curl beach in Sydney.
And so the party began!!!
The best picture of the night ;)
The first dance as Mr and Mrs!
And then came the lights!!!
The end of the night!
Day 5
This was a day of clean up and rest! But in the evening we had a fantastic leftovers curry at Jane’s house and when the wedding cake finally got there. Just meant there was more for us all to enjoy!
Day 6
The last full day with everyone all together. We headed off early again to go up into the Hunter Valley for lunch at Jane’s favourite vineyard and to do some pottering around.
Lunch and the wine was beautiful and yet again another amazing day but sadly another long drive back and also a horrible goodbye in the evening to Naomi’s Mum and Dad who flew back to the UK very early the next morning!
Day 7 and 8
After sadly saying goodbye to everyone in the morning as Mum, Dad and Libby had flown back, Jane and Wayne travelled north for a honeymoon and Lou and Adrian went venturing into the countryside for an extra week; we headed into Sydney to take in some of the quieter sides of Sydney that we had not seen before.
We stayed in the Chinese Quarter in town in a lovely boutique hotel on main George St.
We enjoyed a chinese meal in a very busy little restaurant full of chinese just around the corner from our hotel and then decided to chill out by going to the cinema for the evening.
On our final day, we went shopping in the Chinese Markets and in the Hay Market, most importantly finding Jessica’s birthday presents and getting Chris some new T-shirts that actually fit lol. We also headed into the centre of town and enjoyed some expensive window shopping in the Queen Victoria Building and surrounding area before having to head to the airport.
We had such a wonderful time in Sydney. Thank you to Jane and Wayne for your amazing hospitality and for inviting us to join you on your very special day!
Also thank you to Mum and Dad for making the very long journey over! It was great to see you and to spend some fantastic time with you!
And to Lou, Adrian and Libby for joining us in this venture!
Till next time :)
